Mathematics - Effective Lesson Planning in Primary Mathematics
Lesson planning is one of the key aspects of an educator’s role, and is vital for outlining classroom objectives and evaluating whether learners are on track. The three phases of learning (Readiness, Engagement and Mastery) can be drawn on to plan and deliver effective lessons. In the readiness phase, various factors such as the students’ profile and learning environment are taken into consideration to understand what interests the students, before moving on to the engagement phase. In this main phase of learning, students then engage with the new materials to be learnt, either through activity-based learning, inquiry-based learning or direct instruction. In the final phase of learning, the mastery phase, students then consolidate and extend their learning, with teachers summarising and reviewing key learning point at the end of a lesson and make connections with subsequent lessons.
Science - Optimising Science Lessons with 5E Instructional Model
There is no one best method that will interest your students into acquiring scientific concepts and applying them in daily life. Every student needs different activities as learning progresses.
What we need is a systematic model of instructional methods encompassing the five phases of learning. The phases are (1) Engagement, (2) Exploration, (3) Explanation, (4) Elaboration and (5) Evaluation. In this session, you will get to learn strategies and techniques on how to make your science lessons meaningful and fun for your students.
English - Differentiated Learning in the English Classroom
Students enter our classrooms with a wide variety of exposure and experience of the English Language. How can we ascertain that each child's learning needs are met in each lesson? Differentiated learning in the same English classroom is now made possible with relatable strategies and rich content found in the My Pals are Here English series. Are you ready to strengthen communicative competency and functional language skills in our future generation?
