TOPICS & SYNOPSES:
IGCSE BIOLOGY: Engaging Our Students to Excel in STEM
How can a teacher interest her students to love Biology, when the subject is often associated with painful memorisation of facts and processes? And how can an educator inspire his learners to think like problem solvers, build their skills in inquiry to ask the right questions and design solutions to real life problems, while learning biology? What strategies can a teacher adopt to engage learners in STEM, starting with the subject of Biology? The session will share the trainer's experiences and insights on the efficacious mix of instructional method, content, and learning experience in a seamless manner to help learners acquire STEM practices.
IGCSE PHYSICS: Enhancing IGCSE Physics Learning Using the Blended Learning Approach
The session will provide the strategies and ideas how to enhance learning in Physics by using very comprehensive suite of print and digital resources to facilitate the blended learning approach in classroom. Find out how to reduce obstacles in Physics learning and help learners achieve mastery of concepts through the Inquiry Framework on 3Cs and 1E that was developed based on robust research to boost engagement and understanding.
IGCSE ESL: Removing Obstacles and Boosting in the ESL Classroom
How can we remove the obstacles to learning that exist in every ESL classroom? The session will share some practical strategies that can help us do just that. We will see how small changes in teaching practice can lead to noticeable improvements in students’ performances, helping them improve their English while promoting the development of important life skills that
are crucial for their success as global citizens.
IGCSE ICT and Computer Science: Improving Digital Literacy through ICT and Computer Science
The IGCSE ICT and IGCSE Computer Science enable learners to achieve digital literacy in the new normal and beyond. Riding on rich resources and fully scalfolded approaches, teachers nurture 21st century learners and inculcate a love for life-long learning seamessly and effectively. The session will demonstrate real-life application of how easy to Python, covered as part of the IGCSE Computer Science curriculum. Python is used in many areas from web development, writing of games, machine learning, AI, data science and many more.
IGCSE CHEMISTRY: Engaging Learners in Chemistry Classrooms using an Inquiry Approach
The session helps to draw attention to the need of classroom inquiry when delivering chemistry lessons. Inquiry learning is the basis of constructivism, where learners are engaged by questioning and acquiring science process skills while conducting investigative work. It is a light-hearted sharing of effective teaching strategies that develop scientific process skills related to thinking, research, communication and self-management skills, required at tertiary education.
